IAS 2016 Short Course: Introduction to Planetary Remote Sensing for Sedimentary Geology

Short Description

The short course aims at providing basic knowledge on Planetary Sedimentary Geology with overall state of the art, planetary datasets, tools, techniques, and case studies with particular emphasis on Mars.

At the end of the course participant will have gathered information on where to obtain and how to process data, mapping and analysis tips, practical work on exemplary location on Mars, where literature is abundant as well data coverage and ground truth.

The course will include both theoretical and practical components. Hands-on sessions are based on a VirtualBox VM to be run on own laptop (with a stripped-down version of USGS ISIS3) and they will make use of existing processed data, but information for individual data preparation will be provided.

The maximum number of participants (first come first served basis) is 20.
